Working Group FAO/WECAFC

The Lesser Antilles ad hoc working group for the development of FAD fishing was officially established during the 10th COPACO session, which took place in 2001 in Barbados.

The group met on three occasions. The MAGDELESA project was defined at the third meeting, which was held in Les Saintes, Guadeloupe. A list of working group participants is provided below.

All of the working group member countries are not taking part in the MAGDELESA project. However, they will all be invited to the final project meeting, during which results will be presented and recommendations for the sustainable development of moored FAD fishing in the region discussed.

Non-participant countries are also invited to continue their efforts in this domain and to present their works at the annual meetings of the GCFI (Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute). These works will be considered during reflections on recommendations for moored FAD fishing.
